Free 3D Design From Your Paver Manufacturer: What It Covers and Where It Stops

Some paver manufacturers offer free 3D rendering to contractors through their authorized contractor programs. Belgard's Design Studio is the best known example. It is a genuinely useful program that most hardscape contractors have never heard of. It is also built for a specific purpose, which is selling that manufacturer's product, and it runs out the moment a job needs anything outside that.

What these programs are

Belgard runs an in-house design team that produces 3D renderings for contractors in its Authorized Contractor program. Contractors submit photos, sketches, dimensions, and project details through an app or online portal, and the renderings typically come back within about five days. Output can include photorealistic images, fly-through animations, and 360 degree views. Contractors outside the authorized program can reportedly submit a limited number of free projects.

For a contractor who installs a lot of that manufacturer's product, that is real value at no cost. If you have never looked into it, it is worth knowing it exists.

Where it works well

If the job is primarily that manufacturer's product, a driveway, a patio, a retaining wall, all from one line, a manufacturer design service can be exactly the right tool. It is free, it is reasonably fast, and the material accuracy on their own products is going to be good since they are rendering what they make.

Where it runs out

Real projects rarely use one manufacturer. A typical outdoor living job might combine pavers from one line, a wall block from another, travertine or natural stone coping, a poured or porcelain pool deck, a screen enclosure, landscape lighting, and planting. A design service built to specify one manufacturer's catalog is not built to render that whole scene accurately.

There is no construction plan set. These programs produce visual and marketing output, renderings, animations, and views. That is not the same as construction-ready 2D documentation with dimensions, pattern direction, grade changes, and material callouts your crew can build from.

It ties the design to the product. If the right material for a job is not in that manufacturer's catalog, the design process is pulling you toward a product rather than toward the right answer for the property.

Access depends on status. Full access generally comes with authorized contractor standing. A contractor who is not in the program, or who installs across several brands, gets limited or no access.

How to decide which to use

If the job is mostly one manufacturer's product and you are in their program, use it. It is free and it is good at what it does.

If the job mixes materials, includes natural stone, a pool, structures, planting, or lighting, or if you need construction documentation your crew can actually build from, you need an independent rendering that covers the whole property.

A lot of contractors will end up using both depending on the job, and that is a perfectly sensible approach.

What an independent rendering covers

BC 3D Studio renders the whole property regardless of which manufacturers are involved. Mixed materials, natural stone, pools, structures, planting, and lighting, rendered as one scene. Every package includes construction-ready 2D plans alongside the renderings, three to four views with day and dusk scenes, and a presentation PDF.

We already work with manufacturer material downloads where they are available, so a specific paver or blend renders accurately rather than as a generic stone texture.

Working on a mixed material job?

Send photos, dimensions, and the product list and we will show you the whole property rendered. The hardscape contractor page covers how we work with paver and stone contractors specifically, and the cost breakdown covers what a package includes.
